The Gretna Historical Society
has been active for over thirty
years and has reserved some of
Gretna's historic landmarks,
welcoming everyone or any groups
that would like to view these
sites. Our restorations include
the David Crockett Fire Station,
which is believed to be the
oldest active fire company in
the United States. We have three
Creole cottages and a working
blacksmith shop. We do
blacksmith weddings and give
lessons on the art of
blacksmithing to anyone who is
interested.
The Gretna Bingo Palace has
played a landmark role in the
accomplishments of the Gretna
Historical Society by providing
bingo funds to this charitable
organization.
Again, we salute the Bingo
Palace and its enthusiastic
workers who take so much pride
in their role of helping others,
and we hope it remains a popular
spot to go. Our games are held
on Fridays at 3PM.
