We,
the Gretna Historical Society, salute the Gretna Bingo
Palace on their 10th Anniversary. It has truly been
an exemplary force in Gretna. It is very fortunate that
Gretna has many civic minded and caring citizens who
work hard for the betterment of the city. And, at the
helm is the Gretna Bingo Palace, always working to provide
financial assistance to many organizations. Thanks to
this financial assistance many churches, carnival clubs,
historic attractions, and others, are able to make Gretna
a better place to live. The enthusiastic bingo workers
understand the needs of volunteer groups, so they give
it their all. They also strive to make the game fun
for all who play bingo at their facility. They feel
it is important for their players to have a pleasant
atmosphere when they are there so they provide a very
social and fun place to go. Because of this, patrons
look forward to spending their leisure time there.
The
Gretna Historical Society has been active for over thirty
years and has reserved some of Gretna's historic landmarks,
welcoming everyone or any groups that would like to
view these sites. Our restorations include the David
Crockett Fire Station, which is believed to be the oldest
active fire company in the United States. We have three
Creole cottages and a working blacksmith shop. We do
blacksmith weddings and give lessons on the art of blacksmithing
to anyone who is interested.
The Gretna
Bingo Palace has played a landmark role in the accomplishments
of the Gretna Historical Society by providing bingo
funds to this charitable organization.
Again,
we salute the Bingo Palace and its enthusiastic workers
who take so much pride in their role of helping others,
and we hope it remains a popular spot to go. Our games
are held on Fridays at 3PM.
